Go Meg, It’s Your Birthday!

Ahh I am waking up another year older today!  Today I turn 24, which means I finally have a horizontal license now!!  I have to get excited for the small things, not much happens when you turn 24…

I am actually really excited to turn 24.  It isn’t a “big” birthday however, in my mind (everyone has their own opinion on this), I feel like mid twenties are right about the prime in people’s lives.  I know that in this upcoming year, I will be graduating with my master’s degree, I will hopefully be getting my first “big girl” job, and I am still young enough to have some fun!  I don’t have children or other important responsibilities quite yet.  I can just enjoy myself and take this time to still figure myself out and determine exactly what kind of job I would like, where I would love to live, etc.

I am a person who doesn’t really like change.  I get so comfortable with where I am, I am thrown off by the thought of something changing.  The thought of getting older really scares me for this reason.  When I was at the DMV getting my license renewed, there was teenage boy in there waiting to get his picture taken for his very first license ever.  He had just passed his driver’s license test and was replaying the entire test to his mother.  I couldn’t help but think back to when I was in his shoes.  I sat there and thought about how different my life is now, and about everything that I had been through in the past eight years.  It seems like just yesterday I was in his same shoes, excited to finally get my license and show everyone when I got to school the next day as I showed up to school on my very own for the first time.  Life was so much simpler back then, but I wouldn’t change a thing about where I am now.

As much as I hate change, and hate the thought of getting older, I can’t help but be excited for this upcoming year because although times are much more challenging now than they were when I was 16, I absolutely love my life.  I have nothing but great things to look forward to as a 24-year old.  I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for me!  I have already made some goals for myself for this upcoming year in which I am excited to accomplish.  I hope to be able to better myself in every way possible including being able to be more patient, forgiving, understanding, carefree (I can never relax), not letting stuff get to me easily, and the list goes on.

So what am I doing for my 24th birthday?  Well, when you start getting older, getting all of your family together to celebrate your birthday becomes nearly impossible.  Because of this, I actually celebrated my birthday with my family and boyfriend last Sunday.  My boyfriend bought me camera for my birthday, so I obviously had to test it out with the selfies posted above:)  I am already so obsessed with my new camera!  So today, I get to relax, catch some sun, get dinner with family, and hopefully enjoy a beer or two with some friends!  Like I said, birthdays become less and less exciting after you turn 21…but I am completely happy with having zero responsibilities today and just going with the flow. As mentioned previously, one of my goals for myself is to become more carefree:)

Here’s to 24!! I can’t wait to see what it has in store for me!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I don’t like change, either. But I’ve found 24 to be a pretty good year for me, so I hope you do too! It sounds like you have a lot to look forward to. Now eat a piece of cake for me! hehe xx.

Happy birthday!!! It’s so nice to see someone happy with where they’re at in their life. Everyone (including myself) is always so focused on getting to the next step in their lives. You’re an amazing person and blogger. I think you’ll find 24 to be pretty nice! 😊

Happy Belated Birthday! 😊 I enjoyed this post. I’m not a fan of change and often try to fight it. It’s usually a losing battle. Haha. I love that you shared details of your life. Very interesting. 25 was hard for me. I was turning half of 50, a quarter of the way to 100. I imagine 30 may be rough too, however getting to celebrate another year is always wonderful.

Thank you so much!! I am always thinking that way too. I hate the thought of getting older and even knowing my parents are getting older. I don’t take that kind of stuff well at all but there is nothing I can do about it so I am just learning to accept it:)
